We thought it would be a good idea to update you on recent events and to let you know about upcoming events.
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Spring Ball. It looks like we have raised around £2000. We have had lots of positive feedback and will be booking for next year before we break up for the summer. Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes.
The pamper night was another great success this year and a huge thank you must go to Kim Johnson, Karen Wright, Laura Baines, Jacqui Horne and Maria Selwyn who organised it. The night was very well attended and again we have had lots of great feedback
We have some great events coming up over the next few months, to which we would very much value your support.
Sponsored Inflatables – Friday 28th May – You should have received by now a sponsorship form and a schedule of each classes event time. The school association will be selling tea and coffee at the event and we will also be holding a Cake Sale throughout the day. Cake donations should be placed in the hall on the Friday morning. School money envelopes will also be available to purchase. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the weather.
South Weald Festival – Friday 25th to Sunday 27th June 2010 – The festival will begin with the launching of the rocket at school on Friday afternoon. Saturday Fete at the school 2pm till 5pm, barbecue, beer tent, inflatables, Tombola’s and lots of stalls. Sunday Boot Sale and Craft Stalls at the school 1.30pm till 4.30pm, there will also be barbecue, beer tent, and inflatables. Separate information will be sent regarding booking a boot sale/craft stall pitch.
Summer Camp Night – Saturday 3rd July – Information and booking forms to be sent out after half term.
Summer Discos – Friday 16th July – Years 2,3 & 4, 5pm till 6.30pm and Years 5 & 6, 7pm till 8.30pm. These discos require the purchase of a ticket and again letters will be sent after half term.
If anyone has any ideas for events or would like to help at any event please let Lisa or Laura know.
As you may recall from our last newsletter it has been decided to use the majority of the money we raise this year on an all weather pitch for the school to be located where the temporary classrooms were last year. We have almost raised the sum we need to do this and Mr Gunn is presently working on planning permission which is required. We hope that the work will be carried out during the summer holidays ready for the start of the new school year in September. We may be asking for some help from parents when the work is being done and especially with the fencing that will surround the pitch.
Other things to mention:
Just a reminder that second hand uniform and school money envelopes are still available to purchase from the school association
The school association is registered with an internet search engine site that raises funds for the school every time a purchase is made. WWW.EASYFUNDRAISING.ORG.UK. This provides a free service where you can shop with your favourite online stores and at no extra cost raise funds for any charity, good cause or group you choose to support. When you enter the site, chose the option “Find a Cause” and we are listed as St Peter’s South Weald School Association. Simply complete the registration form and then each time you purchase anything on-line using this site you will be raising funds for the school.
Also, you can order name tags for your childrens clothing and belongings through www.easy2name.com and for every order placed the school association will receive 20% back from the company.
Matched Funding/Community Cashback, many employers offer this scheme. All it requires is you to offer a small amount of help at one of our events and your employer will donate a charitable amount to the association in recognition of your efforts. Last year we received £3446 through matched funding so we are taking this opportunity to ask parents to enquire with their employer if they operate a matched funding scheme.
Finally, we would like to thank you all for the help and support that you give at our various events, which would not be possible without all the effort so many parents and children put in.
Kind regards
Laura Heazel & Lisa Ryall
